GO ERNST

For all of you 20 somethings and any others, who read this blog, please give a shout to Matt, who is taking on the Philly marathon this weekend. Matt is a great runner and for someone in his late 40's, his committment and passion for the sport, is all the more impressive.

In one's 20's the body is still gold and can withstand torture and still come back. In the 30's it gets to be harder. In the 40's. it just gets worse and so on. Thus, Matt deserves all the more credit and for coming out and training and racing, etc.

GOOD LUCK!

  2. Hey Matt, conventions are meant to be defied... and age is a concept, not always a reality... the fact is you can crush it better than most 20 years olds!

  3. Jason, when you reach 35 then you can say, WITH AUTHORITY, what you just said:::::::::::::::::)

Did you draw a "penis" with your colons and parenthesis?

  5. i most assuredly do not believe this assertion: "In one's 20's the body is still gold and can withstand torture and still come back. In the 30's it gets to be harder. In the 40's. it just gets worse and so on. "

Having said that best wishes to Matt!

  6. I'll be reporting LIVE from the race on Sunday.

    I predict a "breakthrough" time.

  7. All you guys that think you can stay young forever, all i can say is its good to think that way.

as for the comment below, I assume, that due to its overwhelming degree of intelligence and sophistication it is either a product of scott or dwyer, though one never can tell!

  8. The penis comment was not mine. I wouldn't be afraid to state that with my name.

Also, it is a fact that Matt is faster than the average 20 year old. I would be interested to see the data on whether he is faster than the average of all runners/joggers in their 20s. I would suspect he still is faster. I know a few guys off the top of my head who are in their 20s and not broke 4 hours.

So my comment is accurate and supportive. I do not need to be 35 to say that Matt is faster than the average 20 year old.

with that, I am going to bed. they ar playing taps at ft myer's as I type

  9. that maybe true. however, when I was your age(10 years ago), i could stay out all night and party and then get up at 6am and play four hrs of basketball, go to work or such and then finish the day with an easy 8 mile jog and then go out again. At 37, i cannot. this might just be my own decline, though________M

  10. yes, but max, you can still beat your average 20 year old. either you're giving american youth too much credit or too little for yourself.

  11. maybe i am just jealous of all of you young guys. seeing you and scott scamper around on the mud and through the rivers with reckless abandon reminded me of a time(not too long ago, when that would have been me). I could not believe it when I was telling myself to be careful and and don't get hurt, etc.---OH well, I will take your positive insights and pretend to be happy!

  12. A few things. 1) That was not me with the post above. I do think it is hilarious, though. 2) Good luck Matt. I didn't say good luck earlier because I had all intentions on standing at the 23 mile mark and cheering you and one of my former teammates on. 3) I was in Atlantic City last night. 4) I have less money today than I did at this time yesterday.
