I'm really happy for Blake. She went to UNC with my sister, so I remember watching her race as a high schooler. In 2004 she took the trials out really hard (10:40 for the first 2 miles) and lead through 20 before eventually getting passed and coming in 4th (by 30 seconds). Also, new D.C. resident Veena Reddy ran really well (15th, 2:38:08)!
The girlfriend, Megan Hepp, of a runner I know from Charlotte ran 2:37:29 (and finished 12th). Not bad considering she ran a 2:45:10 to qualify back in December.
Desiree is hot. Based on splits I thought she was just trying to run a quick half, but then read about her falling apart at mile 14. She was holding 7s for the most part, with the exception of a 10 minute mile somewhere in there.

Great pics Robert,
ReplyDeleteMelissa,
Is by chance your sister one of the athletes profiled in "Daniel's' running formula?" I remember seeing a "Tanner" from UNC in the book.
Yep, that's her (Heather Tanner MacFalls). Jack used to coach her. She's very talented.
ReplyDeleteWow.
ReplyDeleteSamia Akbar, 18th overall, 2:39:19.
ReplyDeleteBut how about 46 years young Linda Somers Smith, 17th overall 2:39!!
My crush Desiree Ficker didn't do as well as I would have liked...

ReplyDeleteSeemed like the weather was pretty nice, too.
