UNBELIEVABLE: BAIN 2:31 in KOREA!
I received this e-mail Chris Bain sometimes early this morning:You won't believe this.... I just ran a PR--2:31:06 and took 4th place. I'm now officially a millionaire in Korea.
The trip so far has been amazing. The hospitality has been unbelievable; truly elite treatment for us invitedd runners. Tomorrow all of the other athletes head home and I head off into other parts of Korea. Please note, Bain ran 2:36 for 26.2 LESS THAN a week ago!! I am going to throw my Lydiard/Daniels books into a fire.DEVELOPING...
SILENT THUNDERSTRUCK!
ReplyDeleteThe Silent One ROCKS it in Korea!!! He told me the day he left that he'd been running strong since Boston. I told him my usual line ("Don't run like an...) and apparently that rule's dead too!! His e-mail wanted Pike's Peak results so please post them - good luck all!!!!
ReplyDelete- JARRIN
Wow-that's awesome! Congrats, Chris! Running 2:36 in Boston, flying halfway around the world, getting over jet lag and then PRing and getting 4th place in another marathon! Amazing.
ReplyDeleteHoly crap, that's amazing - great job! Maybe the Mike Wardian technique works after all!
ReplyDeleteDid the musical girl group The Wonder Girls entertain during the race? I hear they're big over there.
That is spectacular. Bain you give us all hope, keep plugging away and you'll be rewarded.
ReplyDeleteThanks guys! Sorry, not much time to post a report here now, but the course was perfect for my running style. A big negative split: 1:17:40 first half and 1:13:26 second (that's a half PR as well). I was not thinking PR at all until halfway back (it's an out an back course). Lots more to say at a future time...
ReplyDeleteI think I now know what it means to have a man crush.
