Guys, the Bandit thing was a joke. I have run that race for years and know the race directors. I did not wear a chip nor did I get a recorded time. As for race fees and such, I have gotten most of the runners around here into many races for free(above and beyond the Race team standards) for years so I am not sure where these comments stem from. Personally, I do not care. Even if you did not go "bandit" you did not have to pay Interesting. As for the anonymous commenter, I suggest you declare your true identity. I am not sure why people make comments under the anonymous in the first place.
As for the run for Haiti, I suggest everyone who is able come out and lead the charge on that one. The run has nothing to do with me, the store or you but for the people of Haiti who at this moment, have only devastation to deal with.
Let's not conflate the issue- banditing, whether you know the race directors or have raced there before, has nothing to do with securing entry for someone to run registered.
ReplyDeleteEven joking about banditing looks bad.
It was $5....
If you get in for free and get a number, that is 100% fine (eg - comp entry), but as Charlie notes this is much different than banditing.
ReplyDeleteAnd it does makes us ALL look bad when one of us jumps into a race without a number, without paying. Race directors hate bandits. It is essentially stealing. Although you don't get a time, you're still taking part in the event, eating post-race food, drinking water etc.
In the final analysis, you shouldn't bandit.
what are you guys cops?

ReplyDeleteYes, we are. You have the right to remain silent.
ReplyDeleteJarrin, is that you. sounds legalistic.....
ReplyDeleteLeave Max alone. As a long time member of the DC running community Max gets a pass.
ReplyDeleteI doubt the DCRR cared whether he paid $5 or not, I'm sure they were happy just to see him healthy and running.
The writing's on the wall. This is just the latest manifestation of years of being a thorn in the heel of the GRC and the Washington running community. Max should pack his bags and catch the next bus out of town.
ReplyDeleteMomma always said "If you wouldn't say it to their face, don't post it on a blog"
ReplyDeleteWait a tick - did Matias just thief my little profile picture that I've been using for years??
ReplyDeleteA few things here:
ReplyDeleteI originally was going to respond to Max's comment to Klim and Charlie "What are you guys cops?" with my own comment of "No, worse, they're republicans!" but I deleted that line because I have no idea where Charlie Ban falls on the political scale and did not want to offend him.
As for "Anonymous", this is the third time someone has asked if it's me. All of you shits should know that if I had something to say, I would write it without any hesitation whatsoever under my own "JARRIN" and not some boring pseudonym.
Lastly, RM, I think Matias indeed has stolen your icon.
- JARRIN
And for the umpteenth time, I am not a Republican...never have been. Just because I don't vote for the candidate left of Lenin in each election, does not quantify me as a member of the GOP...
ReplyDeleteInDEED!
ReplyDelete- MATIAS
That is one sharp looking icon Chileno!
ReplyDelete- JARRIN
I'm pretty much an equal-opportunity critic who gets increasingly critical the closer someone gets to either extreme. It's pretty difficult to offend me
ReplyDeleteMax is a true winner for planning such a run to help in one of the worst catastrophes in history.
ReplyDeletePraiseworthy actions can't be
reduced to mindless name calling, or our Blog's are worthless.
'Come in earth', we are living in dangerous times for both dems.and repubs.
Mother nature could be sending a message, and we need to heed the pounding.
Join the Haiti run. Show we're way above the smallness of the resenters and blamers and want to be a part of a decent D.C.future.
