  2. Thanks, conditions in Austin were perfect. A crisp 42 degrees at the start with no wind. Splits

    5:42/5:29/5:22/5:29/5:26/5:20/5:31/5:34/5:37/5:48/5:37/5:28/5:26/(34)

I planned on running 5:40s but plans quickly changed after mile 3. You can probably tell from the splits I was having pace battles with myself... after mile three I decided to slow it down, but by mile six I was right back at it again, pushing pace in a pack of four. The other three guys were running the marathon so they were greatful for doing most of the work. Mile 10 was uphill (I didn't think they had hills in Austin), but then a downhill finish.

Fun race, at times the course was rolling, but the downhills gave your legs a quick break.

What I found most interesting was the camaraderie within our pack of four. After making two unsuccessful attemps at water at mile six, one of the marathoners handed over his water bottle. We past it around amongst the group, and switched off on pace throughout the race.

  7. Thanks, big confidence booster going into the marathon in March.

As Scott mentioned, my friend went 2:21:15 at Austin and hit the B standard. Trials are the first week in November, so if anybody is thinking about going up to NYC to watch the race, count me in. Another reason would be to go up and support Steve M
