8k race on Sunday in Fairfax

I can't race saturday, but this one on sunday looks good. There is prize money for the top 3 and only 20 bucks to register. There is also a team competition. I'll be there.

  1. JD - I may run. I will let you know.

I'm back at 70 mpw and would like to stay that way. Your Wed w/o looks good too, but getting down to Gtown is tough. Maybe a similar w/o the following weekend? I need to start running some quick longer runs myself.

As a side, I cool downed with our "friend" Bert on Saturday. He's not defecting but he'd like to get together for a run sometime.

  2. I think I am going to opt for a long run with a hard close. I need long runs bad right now.

If anyone is interested, I've found a sweet spot at Lake Frank in Derwood, Md. Plan to run 15-16...last 5 miles quasi hard. First 8 are on rolling trails...nothing ridiculous and the next 7 or so are on the Rock Creek Park trail and streets.

  3. I hear ya. That sounds like an awesome run. Perhaps we can hit it up Nov 4th? I'm racing the goblin gobbler next sunday... but the following weekend is open. The one thereafter is veterans' day. These sunday races have various pros and cons- the con being long runs are now shifted to monday.

  5. I didn't ask him about this race, or actually any other race- so I don't know what the policy is... I kinda thought it was for the bigger races?

  8. Scott, I think you have a good chance getting that back... depends on who shows up. Last year I was second to Deak just under 16:00 minutes, but 3rd place was over 17. there may even then be age group prizes?
