Marathon Workouts This Week

There has been a lot of talk about various marathon-themed workouts this week both for Wednesday and for this weekend.

The "feels like" temperature will be in the triple digits on Wednesday so running anything too intense will be brutal. Thursday the weather is supposed to be even hotter. I'd meet for a workout/run down the CCT tomorrow if others are interested? We just need to be cognizant of how hot it is and know that our effort won't translate into good times. I've been liking the workouts we've been doing there.

I propose Duel Ferries on Saturday. It's 20 miles (10 mile loop x 2) and depending on what type of shape you're in you can run anything from 10-20. More than half the run is shaded, but a good part of it is right under the sun. It's all natural terrain. I don't think we should start later than 8:30am. Some have expressed interest in pushing some of the miles late in the run.

Comment if you are interested.

Something on CCT Wednesday sounds good ... Up I'm for Dual Ferries. I'd like to pick it up the second half, for sure.

I'm down for both

I am in for the long run and like the idea of pushing some of the latter miles... I decided to not workout this week... just to take it easy.. but still keep decent miles this week.

I'd be just tickled to do the Saturday long run, especially if I could meet someone somewhere for a ride out there to start early. I know I'm complicating things by asking, but any chance we can get going before 8?

I think I will probably opt for a medium long run from home Wednesday night in lieu of anything hard on the CCT.

I agree with Charlie, would like to aim to start just around 8:00 AM on Saturday is more ideal in this heat. The temperature increases significantly by the time 10:00-10:30 rolls around.

I'm in for Duel Ferries. I can get behind an earlier start, but can also tough it out in the heat. Kansas is hot this time of year.

I don't think I can make it to the workout this Weds.

I support an 8am start time.

I will plan to work out in the morning Wednesday in RCP with HUGE if anyone is interested in joining us. What do you have in mind for the Wednesday evening workout?

I support the 8AM start time. I doubt that I'm up for 20 miles, but I would like to push it towards the end of 16-17 miles. This is essentially doing the dueling ferries out-and-back on the trail instead of the full second loop.

I am up for Saturday, probably do about 14 though. 1 lap + some. I ran 6 x1000 last night and heat was not bad.

We will also be blessed with the presence of Jason Dwyer, the Haverford Goat, on Saturday.

I am in for Dual Ferries. I can't for Saturday. Badass run in the AM and US Soccer in the afternoon.

Alternatively, if anyone is staying closer to home and will run from the store (as usual) please post.

I am leaving Grosvenor Metro at 7:15am. I'm driving Wiggy and Karl, but can fit one more. Let me know if you need a lift.

If that link doesn't work check the "Where We Run" section on the right hand side of the blog.
