Race Day!

I plan on getting to Haines Point on Sunday around 6:45am in an effort to get my number/swank and get myself organized under one of those trees on the edge of the field.

It'd be great to do a group warm-up (15 mins) at 7:15am. If you're interested, meet near the finish line a little after 7:00 so we can all get going 15 minutes later. That allows for 30 minutes of extra warm-up, bathroom, stretching and warm-up tossing. The gun will go off at 8:00am sharp.

GRC's incredible media division, second only to the Associated Press here in DC, will be in full force with JARRIN snapping hi-rez pictures and Towpath shooting DV tape. Remember to smile.

Please don't forget to wear your GRC singlet and any GRC warm-ups/clothing you might have. Assuming it doesn't storm, I'll have on my blue top/black pants and black GRC cap. If anyone on the list (Ben, Max, Allen etc) has an extra singlet, please bring that to the race. I know some people have singlets that are too big/small and we can do a swap.

Sunday Weather: Times of sun and clouds. Highs in the mid 40s and lows in the upper 30s.

See you at 7:15am for the warm-up! Do it. Below is our team:

18 AMATO, JONATHAN M 34 GRC - CHEVY CHASE OM
12 ASKEY, BILLY M 25 GRC - CHEVY CHASE OM

Well massive

I am planning on running 5:30s, or maybe just a little faster. Anybody else going to be in that pace range?

I will probably be jogging to the race, max style, after listening to some james brown to get a little bit of extra sleep

I don't have a singlet yet. Are there extras lying around somewhere? I'll probably just wear my Rochester gear, if not.

"The Point" is notoriously fast. I plan to go out a little reserved and let people go...then fight back.

PHughes - I will bring my old Running Co singlet for you if no one else has one.

Cool. Thanks, Jake.

is that a spear that Pat Hughes is carrying? just kidding.

I looked on the runwashington site. it looks as if pacers is not running. if they are, they did not sign up yet. Wilson is being stealth about running. if he does not run it, you guys will all be chasing jake. I predict Susannah K eeeks out a win for the women unless some pro shows up.

don't worry Jarrin/TP... I won't forget to smile for the camera :)

abiyot says he has a bum foot and might not be able to run. could be a ploy though

Abyiot ran a 13:54 5K at 8000 ft. I think he could win it on one foot.

Klim, I think you mean "swag" not "swank"

Promotional items or promotional products refers to articles of merchandise that are used in marketing and communication programs. These items are usually imprinted with a company's name, logo or slogan, and given away at trade shows, conferences, and as part of guerilla marketing campaigns. These items are also referred to by the slang terms swag (probably from the British usage of the word meaning "stolen goods" or "loot"[1]), or tchotchke (derived from a Yiddish word meaning "trinket").

Damn it Towpath, don't tell me what I mean. I meant swag.

Swag is a word I always use...yeah.

I was going to say something, but figured it was a New England phrase or something.

If you had some "swank" you would have a sometimes-mildly-attractive actress with a decent amount of acting skill.

Sorry everyone, I am going to DNS this race. I have had some pretty serious issues with my knee this week that have kept me from running, and I don't think my knee is ready for the stress of a fast race right now. I'm not even sure it's ready for any running.

Sorry to hear that Alex. Get well.

A bunch of us last night talked about heading to Starbucks after the race. Likely the Sbux at Freedom Plaza.
