Email from Race Director in response to going the wrong way last year...
"Matias, thank you so much for your feedback.
I was made aware of this issue, unfortunately, during the race, and we immediately tried to remedy the situation. You are correct. We needed a better plan for our course marshals, and yes, we did need a volunteer there to direct people.
We have discussed the situation on our committee and are already putting a plan in place to ensure this does not happen again next year---we DO understand how this happened, so that at least is a start to ensure it DOESN”T happen again.
We are so happy to have runners like you participate in this event, and we want to ensure that our runners are happy and would run the race again in the future. We also really appreciate having Pacers work with us on the management and logistics of the race, and we know that this was not an ideal or typical situation for them to be working in, either- please be assured that Pacers and the GWBCC will work together to have an even better race next year. We are considering changing the course for next year, which also may alleviate some confusion (it’s more of a cross-country track kind of course right now), but we are also examining better direction for our volunteers.
Please feel free to share any feedback, positive or negative, with us, as we WILL take everything into consideration as we plan for next year."
Guess what happened this year? Same exact &$%! turn.

When I talked to the race director afterwards she acknowledged that the course was .2-.25 miles long. She did say they would be changing it for next year (sound familiar?), but I doubt I'll come back. On the plus side, we probably set 6.45 mile PRs.
Yeah great job you guys, especially early in the year it's not the race distance that's terribly important - everyone ran the same course (I assume) so be pleased with the efforts.
It's like old school xc, nobody knew the exact distance, just went out and ran hard.
Excuse me for asking but wasn't your 8k race on the Tow Path last summer a tenth of a mile short... That course is out and back...
Thank you
These things happen, right.
I can't verify the length of the Georgetown Classic 8K race, but it was held on the CCT, not the towpath.
Wait, was the course long or was a turn missed again?
-not anonymous:)
