Boston 08

What are people's logistical plans, like when are you heading up to boston and how? when are you returning. where are you staying? How are you getting to the line? what are you doing that night?

I will be staying in Brockton, MA. 20 miles or so due south of Boston, 45 minutes away from hopkinton. We probably will have a spare bedroom and ample sofa/floor space for an airmatress or sleeping bag.

I am considering having chrissie drop me off at hopkinton state park (.7 miles from the start and there will be a shuttle) or at the "south street industrial park?" also about a mile away. looks like roads in the vicinity close around 7/7:30? I don't know how much i want to explore this... has anyone done either of these, and in particular last year... since it was the year they changed the times?

Is anyone driving up and would like some company/gas money?

Assuming I get in, I will be heading to CAPE COD (where I'm from) on Saturday. My guess is I will drive...so if anyone wants a lift to at least the MA/RI border, please let me know.

I am staying at my parent's house and have arranged a shuttle from Cape Cod to the starting line with the Cape Cod Athletic Club. I will likely head back to the Cape after the race and return to the DC area on Tuesday. I think driving Monday night could be brutal.

Is anything going on post-race?

Max - are you still trying to get into the marathon? Waves of people are trying to get in so if you have a string to pull, I would yank it now.

Let me know who might need a ride...if we split the costs, driving will be cheap. I've got a whole book of jokes I wrote and want an audience to practice on...

Jake, what is your obsession with borders? You love the Md-DC line, now the MA-RI border.... I'm surprised you don't schedule runs on the Mason-Dixon line. Or how about driving down south and running on the US-Mexico border? Or actually crossing a border for once and eating a meal at Taco Bell.

I've been pretty much all booked and ready to go since October. I'm staying at the Hyatt Harborside near the airport with P. Murphy and some other friends from Atlanta and college who are running, flying up Saturday morning, and flying back Monday evening.

So by the sound of it, I'll see y'all at the line.

Flying in Wednesday night and flying out the following Tuesday. I'll be staying with friends in Milford, then Andover and then at the Copley Plaza Westin in downtown (half a block from the finish) starting Saturday night with a big group of friends. For those near Boston on Saturday or Sunday, it would be cool to get together.

Bob -------oooops I mean Robert! lets think about either renting a space or finding an existing one. there will be at least 50 people from the DC running scene running this.
